Saz and Dave's travels
Sarah woke up this morning fairly early and the weather suggested that it was going to be another perfect day, however by the time I had got up, the clouds had started rolling in and any chance of getting some good pictures of the Opera house seemed to disappear. So we decided to spend the day running erands and doing a little shopping.
We first set off in search of central station in order to sort out our 10,000 km Greyhound bus pass we had bought back in England and on the way managed to pick up an Australian SIM card. After an hour of walking we eventually reached the Grayhound station where we were informed that we already had all our stuff and all we needed to do was ring up to book on certain buses.
Determined not to waste the journey we then headed to a near by indoor market to have a look for some shoes, however the market was a bit rubbish so we decided to go for a cheap lunch on Chinatown. On the way to Chinatown we saw a guy playing a didgereedoo to some strange dance music and a little girl watching him was completely freaking out, it was ace.
Once in Chinatown, we quickly found a cheap restaurant and had a lovely lunch, we then spotted a local Chinese supermarket where we bought enough food for 2 days dinner, a tasty Hoi Sin sauce, vegetables and noodles to stir fry.
On our way back to the hostel we walked through the Anzac war memorial and onto Kings Cross via Hyde Park. When we reached Kings Cross, feeling curious we decided to have a look round. Kings Cross is not actually as bad as the guide book made it out, it's far worse, it's like an urban Royston Vasey. It was full of wierdos just milling around as well as every other shop being some seedy strip joints. After 2 minutes of looking around, we quickly, fearing for our safety, turned around and went back to the hostel.
At the hostel we both enjoyed a cup of coffee and a game of cards before Saz conjoured up our lovely stir fry. We then spent an hour chilling watching the Bill and once that had finished spent some time on the internet before heading to bed.
