The adventures of Sarah & Brian
Hi loons,
Thanks for the messages - keep them coming. Who is the man of Mystery? I reckon it's got to be Christian, come on own up!
Well we had an excellent time in Hong Kong. Our hotel was well posh but v cheap because it was 45 mins out of the city. It's very easy to get around though, we had an electronic card to use on all trains, buses, trams, ferries and even in the 7/11's and Macdonalds (and yes Brian did partake in a Mcd's - boooo).
The city is amazing, particularly at night when it looks like something out of Bladerunner, huge shiny skyscrapers all lit up in various colours.
We amused ourselves with various Chinese words - anything with fook or kok in went down well, and we laughed like Beavis and Butthead every time we went past the station called Long Ping (hahaha how immature are we!).
We're both now fluent in Chinese and experts in the arts of the samurai.
We took a few days trips out to the countryside, which is beautiful - lush green hills and mountains and bright blue reservoirs.
The best part was probably going up the Peak Tram for the views of the city from the highest point - you could have been in a plane. The ride in the tram was bit hairy, it was well steep and it belted back down again like a roller coaster.
Brian's highlight was putting his hands in Jackie Chan's handprints on the Ave of Stars. Jackie's face crops up everywhere, he seems to be advertising everything in the city. You can't help but smile when you see him - he is cute like Snoopy!
The wierdest experience though has to be getting drunk in an Irish pub with Ryan's parents. Walked in there and we could have been in England, but then walk out into crazy Chineseville - neon signs everywhere and stalls with meat on sticks.... mmmmmmm unidentifiable meat on sticks......
If they're reading this - thanks so much for the beers, we had a great night. It's been our only night out so far but I reckon we'll make up for that in Oz.
Right I've run out of steam now, take care everyone. Still no joy with finding a computer to put pictures on, surely we'll find one soon. We've taken about a million photo's - don't worry we won't bore you with all of them.
Bye for now
Love Sar n Bri
