Sitting in my lounge on my day off, it's hard to believe that i've only been in Whistler for two weeks. Melissa and i booked our flights from Calgary to Vancouver the day before we left, packed hastily, and before we knew it we were having tearful fairwells at the airport (on my part anyway). Just driving through Vancouver on the bus up to Whistler was a huge change from Calgary. It seemed lively and exciting, exactly what Calgary lacks. The drive up took a couple of hours, the time passed quickly because of the stunning views of the sea and mountains. We arrived at our hostel, lugged our snowboards and 55 pound suitcases up the stairs and checked in. I stayed ay the hostel for 5 days, there was a really awesome atmosphere there, and then moved onto a hostel 100 yards down the road for 3 days. After a lengthy job search i came across a job as a lifty with the mountain, proceeded to get the job, move into staff housing and compete my training. I've been up the hill a few times which has been awesome, i've seen a bear, and have done more exercise in the last two weeks than i have done all year. The weather has been beautiful so far, definitely more days wearing shorts than jumpers. I'm stoked to be working outside this summer, bring on the tan!
