How do everyone.
Covered a fair bit of ground since the last update. We're in Slovenia at the moment, listening to the whoops and klaxons of some very excited Dutch holidaymakers. World cup final and all that, I've never seen so much orange!
Since Italy we circumnavigated Sicily which was no mean feat. The sat nav kept losing it and the drivers were EVEN WORSE THAN ITALY. Hard to believe but true. There were some nice places but we were a bit disappointed after hearing so many people rave about it. The verdict is: awesome holiday destination, but don't ever ever drive there! Highlights were the temples at Agrigento and Selinute, and the town of Cefalu.
After Sicily we spent a few days driving around the South coast of Italy. We were really pleasantly surprised at how nice it was, having been told it's poverty stricken. It's much more laid back than the rest of Italy and strewn with lovely beaches and nice little villages.
Particularly nice was a place we stopped at on the way to the ferry port to go to Croatia called Polignano a Mare which is a town built on the cliffs.
Got the overnight ferry from Bari to Dubrovnik and have driven the length of Croatia which is absolutely beautiful. Dubrovnik is just perfection, hope my pictures show it to a certain extent! One of the best things we done so far was walking around the city walls, and the drive up the coastline is spectacular.
We stopped North of Split and it became Eastern European Tourism central, but still lovely towns and beaches, then travelled inland and stopped at a great campsite just near the Slovenian border. It was in the Croatian countryside by a river you can swim in, with pretty cheap at the bar. Doesn't get much better.
Today have driven for 4 hours to Lake Bled in Slovenia which is gorgeous, haven't explored properly yet though. Something tells me we're not going to get much sleep tonight. Come on Spain!
