So, I've finally sat myself down and given myself the time to write my travel blog. Well, it's only taken, what? Three weeks? Hmm, you know me, better late than never.
Okay, well, I'm currently in Hobart, Tasmania, but let us go back...
24th October 2007
The day itself; eagerly awaiting for my ten o'clock evening flight. Okay, not eagerly waiting, eagerly rushing aroung like a headless chicken getting the last bits and pieces together. Having spent the previous weekend celebrating my Offski, (thank you everyone!! had the bestest of best times) my organisational skills had wandered some what. Nothing like a little bit of panic to fuel a situation.
Left home about 5pm - thanks to everyone for all your help - hmm, perhaps a little too keen to see me off on that flight? Unfortuantely, as I'm sure you are all aware by now, my flight was delayed by 10 (which later became 12) hours. Dear oh dear. And poor pop was paying sky high for parking. Oh, don't panic, the family didn't stay for the 12 hours - but you wonder why they didn't! Shocking!
The beautiful people at Quantas organised a hotel and food for the night - lush, as well as lucky. Apparently, I was the last British person they were going to accept at the hotel...ahem...ex-squeeze-me - I feel a little hard done by here - not my problem the flight was delayed, I'm still in England (hello, home of the British) and had there been another British citizen in front of me in the queue I'd have been sleeping under the stars! Shocking! I then proceeded to head for some food - yumyum-sort of. Safely sat down, tired and worn out, only to have a waitress come and hand me my handbag. s***. f***. What a dork, I hadn't even left the country and I was leaving my oh so very important personal belongings here, there and everywhere. A chap, gentleman, bruce had handed it in and said it was mine. Of course, I searched everything and proceeded to kick myself...
...finally, on the flight to Singapore - 12hours in a window sit - my bladder was screaming for salvation. I wee like it rains in the UK - I couldnt' keep distrubing the people next to me, so I did as Koala's do best and slept, snoozed and drifted away the hours. Waking only for food. Oh, and the odd movie.
Spent a day in Singapore, with my dodgy foot - was still limping about (really I was practising a kanagroo impression on the sly, but couldn't let everyone else know!) -applying Tiger Balm every chance I got, got enough of the stuff to open a store now! Back onto plane 16 hours after arriving in Singapore (which was pretty awesome, although it of course had a Topshop!) with a flight to Cairns via Darwin. A mere one hour stop off in Darwin - get off, get on the plane. Arrived in Cairns about 8am Saturday morning...
