Hi All, I arrived in Brisbane this afternoon after leaving Rainbow beach at 8am this morning. We had a great time in Fraser Island and met some cool people. We arrived at Fraser Island on Tuesday afternoon and headed straight to Lake McKenzie (see pics) this is easily the best place i have seen so far !!!! Its a perched lake and is freshwater and is perfectly clear!!!! It was a bit of a bumpy ride but was well worth it, the whole island is sand dunes and sand tracks but luckily we had a tour guide as a driver, every1 else got stuck in the sand and had to be dug out!!!! We headed back off to camp later that afternoon and had to build out tent!!!!! We then headed of to the communal area(A bit of tarp tied to a tree) and cooked dinner, which consisted of steak, tattys and salad, very nice if i must say so myself!!!! We then drank some goon (cheap wine, 4litres for about 8 quid) I was determined to finish mine so i could blow it up after and have a pillow for the night but the goon defeated me!!!! I had to use my towel as a pillow!!!! That night I had the worst nights sleep ever, the sand was bumpy, it was freezing cold, i thought there was a snake in the tent and the Dingoes were barking a scavenging outside the tent!!!! Next day we woke at about 6am, had some brekky and headed off to the champagne pools, which is a naturally formed rock pool at the other side of the island!!!! It was nice to get all the sand off me but it soon returned!!! Swimming in the ocean off fraser is prohibited as it is a tiger shark breeding area, enough said!!!! After the champagne pools we headed a few minutes down the beach to Indian Head, a lookout point on the island. After that we drove a few hours down the beach to Eli Creek. We then headed back to camp to find that a storm had hit camp and our tent was a mess on the floor!!! Me and jade have sussed if u pretend like u cant do it then some one will do it for u, so the guides went and got us a new tent, layed the floor flat and put up the tent for us!!!!! Cheers guys!! Our guide was a dude called Jake, who made the trip a lot more enjoyable by avin a larf wiv us inglish folk!!!!! That evening we had dinner which consisted of chicken stir fry and biscuits!!!! The dingoes mde a secong attempt to steal something and they were succesful, they stole a bin bag and ran across the beach with it!!!! The group had to go and collect all the rubbish as people have been fined anything from $300 to $40,000 dollars for feeding dingoes!!!! Later that evening we crossed enemy lines and joined 3 of our friends in the next camp for a game of Slaps!!!! More goon intake , but still no pillow!!!!We headed back to camp that night, the annoying thing is there is no toilets or showers , when ur drinking u need the loo more often, so u have too round up a group of people and head of over the dunes! Shovel in hand , u have too bury ur scent 50cm in the ground so that the dingoes cant trace ur scent and hunt u down!!!!! Thenext day we headed off to Lake Wabby before geting the barge back to Rainbow beach!!!!! It felt good to be back on soild land, walking on sand all day is hard work!!!!! Still it was worth it and would recommend it to everyone!!!!! Meeting up with Cousin Brad tomorrow for a night out in Brisbane, then heading off to Fiji on Monday, its a hard life, speak soon every1, lotsa love xxxxx
