Dublin...
Here I was finding myself with barely any money left & a week to do what ever I could. I had a moment of feeling very overwhelmed by this, but after talking it out on the phone to a friend I re-found my feet. Off on another pub crawl (they are the cheapest option for doing anything here, guaranteed to meet people & get drunk on under $20 or so..
And wow how that turned out... I met a crew of solo travellers, also with little plans. We had a ripper of a night tearing up the town, playing beer pong - which ok I must admit I have never actually played, but got my first & second shots in! I wished at this point I had made bets on it!! It was hilarious, everyone was chanting my name, yes I thought I was a rock god! I was also the last to get a goal before we had to move on. I was treated like a champion, it felt pretty good. This pub crawl was huge, around 40 people or so. The pubs were awesome with true live Irish music & soul. I had turned my pretty crappy day around once again, ending on such a high!
The next morning saw me checking out of my hostel to check in to the hostel some of my new found friends were staying in... Small things. Big comforts :)
We (Michelle, Kate, Blair, Sal & me) did the old Gaol tour, it was interesting to here some of the tales of the city. I'm not about to try & explain that on here though... We all enjoyed a few beers, dinner & celebrated Blair's last night before he set off home. Good times.
The following day (day3) Michelle was hiring a car to drive around Ireland, she invited me along - so I guess I was kinda like a glam hitch hiker! s*** just got real...
We were off on our adventures, our first stop was Dunamase Castle ruins. We were both blown away by how stunning this place was, 360• views over beautiful landscapes, awesome ruins & no tourists! It's so tiny people don't know about it... It's very off the beaten track, on the way to Cork from Dublin.
We then continued on our way to Cork, all up the driving time would have been around 4 hrs or so..
Cork is a really cute country town, it's known as the 'people's capital' known for being a bit more 'classy' & 'hip' than the capital. We had dinner at a classic Irish pub complete with a one man band telling terrible jokes. We stayed at Sheila's hostel & I had an early night, finally not drunk!
The next morn - Friday. Pretty gloomy day, not cold but rainy. We set off to the Cliffs of Moher, admittedly we got a few snaps & kept on the move. It was really foggy & rainy, not really conducive to those unprepared for such conditions. But I did take some time to look at my Coat of Arms at the info centre, that was really cool!!! See my pics for more.. If I had more money I'd of bought a copy for €15.
Back on the road, next stop Galway!
