Wow, what a day. In a nutshell today will be known as 'PRICELESS'...
After a rather rotten nights sleep in my lone hotel room (I think it was the deafening silence followed by the tomorrowland returners) I was excited to be getting in a cab on the way to the airport. Once in the cab the conversation rolled on & as I looked at the metre & saw it was at €30, I nicely said that I was told it would cost me around €12 to get there... 'To Brussels!?' He said... 'No, to Antwerp!' Oh god, the time was now ticking to get to my destination rather speedily... We arrived at Antwerp Airport @ 7am, my flight @ 7.15am. There was no talking my way into that flight, I was stranded & furious!!!
I sat around for 2 hours with my bottom lip touching the floor & my fingers rushing through my iPhones internet sussing out my options. I was prepared to go anywhere I could to get back to London on the cheap. But, the trains, the buses, the ferries, my wings & my mermaid suit were not going to be of much use to me today. I checked into the next available flight & sheepishly handed over my bank card-stung $400, thanks for coming! You see the biggest at issue here, and please heed this - Antwerp airport hosts 4 flights a day. Yes,4. And my flight company only has that 1 flight a day. (Flybe). And I needed to be in London today!
So, I'm walking towards the plane & be aware you'd miss it if you blinked, the tiniest thing you've ever seen... Is that a Cessnar?? I was so comforted by those spinny little propellers,NOT! Or maybe it was the pilot constantly apologising for us being late as the storms are creating so much turbulence they took ages to land on the previous flight. I seriously thought this was my impending doom. I am now living everyday like its a gift from god, oh hang on, nothing's changed has it!
Landed in London City Airport-cute,easy,central,recommend it! My day could only get better....
Of which it did, I dried my eyes & spent the afternoon hanging with my main girl - Michelle.. We frolicked off to Hyde Park, rented chairs & sipped champagne (complete with it's £9.99 sticker) over laughter & our usual natter. It was also really great timing as Michelle had some exciting news while we were there... My lips are sealed... Let's just say I'm super proud of her & have loved seeing how she has flourished over here, she's really is my sister from another mister.
I walked Michelle to her work & went off to catch the tube... Mich had given me 3 to choose from & yet I found myself at a different one... Bond Street. 'Ive got this..' I say.
3 tubes later I made it back to a shoreditch, it really should have only been 1 tube, 2 stops. Who's counting! I sprinted up to Shoreditch Grind for my next date with Courts..
We got together & it was like we couldn't even speak for the giggling & sideways looks we gave eachother. So giddy to be hanging out again! (And me a lil tipsy)...
We enjoyed a bottle of champagne at The Fountain Rooftop, a balmy 22•c. Shortly after 'Cindy the Curator' joined us... She is so cute I just want to squeeze her cheeks! We had a great chat about the highs & lows, hurdles & self implosion missiles over our lone journeys. We ended on such a massive high, we hugged it out for the final time standing at the traffic lights - 3 guys tried to interrupt us but got nowhere! The girls waved me off until we couldn't see each other... Super cute. I'll miss those girls. Though I am looking forward to Courtney's creations; matching curtains & doona cover with our photos all over them. She's a character.
I got home, packed (speaking of which god knows what I've packed & forgotten!).. And organised myself for my 3.30 wake up call... I slept on Michelle & Al's sofa with a big cheesy smirk all over my face. Today was PRICELESS. I'm a lucky girl.
