I had a bit of a sleep in this morning and headed out at ten thirty. I took the train to the London Eye. I'm really glad I booked my ticket on line because the line for the tickets was pretty long. The line for the Eye itself wasn't too bad and I was on in about ten minutes. What a fantastic experience. It was a beautiful day and I could see for miles.
After the Eye I did the short 4D presentation they do. It's basically just an ad for the London Eye in 4D. I loved it. A bubble would pop, seemingly right in front of you and you would be splattered with drops of water. It was great.
Next I headed for the aquarium. Not sure why I decided to do that but why not. I actually quite enjoyed it. Got there in time to see them feed the piranhas. Wasn't quite as violent and frenzied as you might think but it was still pretty cool.
I really enjoyed the shark tank which had the really huge fish mixed in the the smaller ones. There were even a couple of massive turtles. The glass they use on the tanks is amazing too, it makes it look like the fish are moving right in front of you, really close. I saw Nemo and Dory and even these strange black and white fish that didn't move at all. There were a dozen of them, all completely stationary. Weird. This one urchin, black and spiny with a yellow eye, looked like an alien.
I stopped for some lunch at one of the cafes along the river. Then I used my voucher for the On Off Bus Tour. This was really good. Much better than the ones in Italy. I did a couple of different lines and enjoyed the red line where you could plug your earphones in and listen to the commentary. The live commentary was better but there was extremely loud, extremely rude people who made it very difficult to hear.
Fortunately that didn't stay very long. I didn't get too many pictures as we were constantly moving.
I stayed on the buses, changing lines now and then, till about six. Then just headed straight back to the hotel. I thought I'd have an early night tonight. I'm pretty tried.
