Sarah J's Fully Sick Travel Page
Hey everyone,
This place is awesome! Mum and I arrived yesterday afternoon from Germany by train and i"ve done so much already.
Yesterday afternoon we checked in to the hostel then hit the streets, we walked down the main shopping district, its probably the most variety i've had in a city since being here. We ended up in Dam square...not the nicest city square, but interesting...and full of pigeons (someone told me they gas them late at night to keep the population down).
We kept going from there to the Anne Frank House, which is where she lived with her family while they were hidding form the Nazi's in WW2, this is also where she wrote her diary. It was an extremely moving experience, its hard to believe eight people had to occupy that space for so long. In the end they were betrayed and sent to various prison camps. After having being to Auschwitz and Birkenau prison camps already (which is where the parents were sent), it put it all into perspective.
After that we made our way back through the streets and over the endless amount of canals and had dinner before crashing out. I was soooo tired, but I didn't get a great night's sleep because mum's nasel sounds during the night kept me up.
I'm almost out of net time so i'll post again soon.
Ciao for now.
Sarah.
