Sarah J's Fully Sick Travel Page
Hey everyone,
Well our time in Rome ends tomorrow unfortunately, but we've seen and sone all that we wanted to. Yesterday we did the Vatican museums and the sistine chapel, that was definately a highlight of Rome. St Peter's church was awesome to see too, it has the largest dome in the world and the pope gave mass in it in spanish yesterday.
Last night we found the best restaurant in Rome, it was tucked away in a small alleyway and it actually had italians dining there which was a good sign, the ravioli came close to my grandma's...and for dessert I had a gelato of course.
On Sunday, mum and I went to church, it was great and the people were very friendly...one of the missionaries did a translation into english for all the visitors via headphones.
After church an italian man came up to me and was rambling on and I told him I couldn't understand him, so he went up to one of the missionaries so he could translate. As the guy was talking the missionary was laughing then he says "he wants you to know he thinks you're very pretty", then I think I received the best compliment you can get in italy..." and he thinks you're more beautiful than the girl on the vodafone ad". All the men are like that here, yesterday while waiting for a bus some feral old guys were waving and blowing kisses my way. But it's all good if they're young, tall, dark and handsome (and there is a fare few here girls). But there is also alot of fabio's walking around that think they're God's gift to the planet, they wear all the designer clothes and sunglasses and look better than most of the girls.
On saturday we visited the pantheon which was awesome to see, it was thought to have been built around 53 A.D. and used to be a pagan temple but was converted into a christian church by the early catholics.
Anywho gotta run, I've loved my stay here and I hope I can come back one day.
Ciao Sarah.
