So, last week was spent in Barra Honda National Park and I had THE most amazing time! I got eaten alive by mosquitos but it was so good it cancelled it out ;)
We did so much! We walked to the very top of the mountain to set up some butterly nets and my leg got eaten by a rock! :( We planted some trees, fixed bat nets, had a night dedicated to catching bats, caught butterflies, went down a REAL cave, not lit buy artificial light. We had to walk down a 17 metre ladder that was mud smeered into complete pitch black, i think it's fair to sa yi was rather scared! And we had to squeeze through a pretty tight space but i did it so im very proud of myself :D
Just AMAZING! The guys that work there are just so lovely and it was so hard to leave! We got up one morning at 3.30 in the morning to walk up the mountain to the mirrador and watch the sun rise, it was damn hard work to get up the hill at that early in the morning but in the end i did it :D took a while but i got there!
The day after we got back, there was a 'compulsary' thing we had to for a race going on. All we did was stand in the middle of the road trying to make sure that cars would drive through but tico's don't listen to me... meh. On the way back the mini bus we were in started to smell funny and when we all got out and looked at the engine it was on fire! We put it out, i say we, i had nothing to do with it, and then the firebrigade turned up so we all walked back.
Our plan was to go to playa conchow in the afternoon but we missed the bus by 5 mintues so we had to dive in a taxi and try and catch up with ut, luckily we did! but we just went straight to tamarindo, found a hostel and went to the beach. The guys at the hostel were fantastic and we definatley chose the right one to go to! I was able to lie and sit on a surfboard :D which made me very happy.
That night, we went out and...yeah probably drank a bit too much for me but meh, :) we went swimming in the sea at 4 in the morning! which was lots and lots of fun! Poppy and I are definatley going back when we can! YAY for Tamarindo :D
