G'day!

Sorry i've not updated this for a bit but it has been manic. we are currenlty on uni campus where we are doing our placement for 2 weeks. i'll start with Fraiser Island..i have to say it is quite possibly one of the nicest and strange places i have ever been, there is rainforests hidden amoung vast amounts of beaches and lakes made up of rain water! we did a guided safari as we thought knowing us we would probably get stuck in the sand dumes which we saw many people had done! our tour guide was called Terry and he was hillarious which made the 2 days even better (TEAM TERRY!!!). on our first night we went to the bar and met up with some people on our tour which was a laugh then we attempted to get up at 4 for sunset but it was really cloudy so not as spectacular as expected!!! the 2nd day was amazing we had to trek over what felt like the sahara dessest in the blistering heat to get to lake wabbi. Gemma and vicky went back after the forest as Gemmas feet where being wripped to shreds by her flip flops (or thongs as they are called out here!) i ventured on and at 1 pont i could see nothing but sand... not another person in sight but then when you got to the top of the sandblow there was a beautiful lake. After lunch we went to lake mckenzie which is made from rain water so we went for a swim..Terry said there would be no sharks as all the alligators had eaten them!!!! it was so nice to chill in the lake. then we had our final night at Next backpackers in Hervey bay.

The following day was a bit of a nightmare as we had to get up early to get the bus to Noosa for our connection to the Zoo! we arrived in Noosa at 10.30 to find out the only connection was at 8 in the morning so we had missed it as the stupid woman at greyhound had just lied to us!!! When we finally arrived in Brisbane at around 4pm after eating and drinking nothing all day we found our Hostel..it can only be described as pure scouler! it had dirty matresses the linen was polyester and smelt, the room was filthy and when Gemma got three flea bites we went in search of sanity! We found a lovely hotel to book into and practically threw the keys back at the hostel..obviously not befor telling them how disgusting it was! so in the end we had a night of pure luxury although it's safe to say i'll never go back to Brisbane!!!

So now we are at our student place for a couple of weeks! i'll update more in a few days but it will all be dull as we are now working for the next 2 weeks...although it is cold and raining(Booooo)so don't mind so much i suppose.
