Well it took long enough to get here but it is well worth it! We set off from singapore on sunday night with i might add stupidly heavy backpacks. after a flight from hell we arrived in sydney. Before even picking up our bags Gemma had lost her immigration pass! we found that and went through everything ok. We had been in the airport not even 10 minutes and i had lost my passport!!! stressfull to say the least! Luckily it had been handed in to customs. After a 6 hour wait in sydney airport and finally arrived in Hamilton Island. which was amazing..just like in the pictures!!!!! Our ferry ride to Airlie Beach was bliss after all that flying but having been travelling for nearly 24 hours we were all pretty minging and needing a shower.
Our hostel Bush village backpacker was nice(not as nice as singapore) but we have a cute little room that sleeps 4 with 2 bunk beds.
Today we got up early(an hour earlier that we should as Gemma mistook a text for the alarm!) but that allowed us to go for a walk and get some braekfast before our bus to take us to the marina arrived.
The cruiser was amazing and it was boiling considering it was only 8am! we chilled out on the top deck in the sun with our complimentary tea and coffe!!!(it was free so we had it!!) then sailed out on our way to the great barrier reef stopping off at some of the whitsunsay islands along the way to pick up some other passengers then off we sailed. There was 30 of us in total so not too many people around which was nice.
I wanted to go diving but wasn't allowed due to my asthma which i was really gutted about but i kind of expected it but gemma and vicky went. Although by all accounts did cause some comotion before getting in the water and had to change instructors!!!!!!!!! Vicky has a phobia of fish so she did amazingly to get in there in such a beautiful place was a real achievment. while they went diving i went on a guided snorkel amoung the coral which was unreal. The colours of the fish and the amzing coral was like i had never seen before. I had an underwater camera so hopefully some of the pictures will come out but who knows!!! we also went on a glass bottom boat and found NEMO!!!!!
Tonight is a pretty chilled one, me and vicky have come into Airlie Beach for some tea and a drink and then we are off sailing to some more of the whitsunday islands tomorrow! We also need to sort out our car hire for thursday when we are driving down to Fraiser island.
Hope everyone at home is ok. Missing you loads but i wouldnt swap this weather for that back home..although i think Brian should get his bum out here with me!!!
Keep the messages coming it makes me feel loved!!!!
