Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is by far the craziest Christmas ever, walking round an island in shorts and a top wearing a Christmas hat. Even though it doesn't feel like Christmas, I'm missing my family and friends lots today. Because it's so chilled here, you have lots of time to think. So I can't help thinking what everyone would be getting up to. Can't be too upset though as we did have Christmas in September before I came out, and next year will be extra special. Not just because of missing this year, but because I have the exciting news that there will be a little baby Godsell there. That's right, I'm going to be an auntie. It's been the most amazing news and has made me so excited about going home. Congratulations Matt and Leanne
Well this Koh Rong is a bit of alright. Arrived two days, got the speed boat over with Byron, only took 40 mins. When you first get off there's loads of bars and guesthouses so its all a bit busy. But walk further down the beach, and my god it's like a piece of paradise. The sand is white power and the sea is crystal clear, and it's so quite, just a few beach bungalows around. Really good vibe, full of backpackers, it's a right gem of an island. Very basic though, no electricity between 2am - 8am and 11am -1pm. Theres no air con!!!!! There's not even one road or path, just beaches and the middle of the island is a jungle. I've been bare foot since I got here. It's like being on shipwrecked or something haha.
So turns out the guesthouse I booked is rubbish and double booked me, so no room for me. Byron didn't know where Danny had booked for them so we spent a good few hours trying to find them and looking for somewhere to stay. Everywhere was fully booked though. Just encase we couldn't find Danny and Dave (wifi is shocking here) me and Byron managed to find a bungalow on the beach for one night. Went back to the guesthouse to get our bags and guess who was there, only Danny and Dave. They had managed to beat our boat over, had checked in and was taking a nap in their rooms, while we were walking round like idiots. Luckily between all the rooms they had booked, they were able to squeeze me in for the rest of the nights. For that night though we took the opportunity to sleep in a beach hut. Gutted I hadn't looked more into accommodation, some of the beach huts are amazing and would have loved to have one for the whole stay.
Night life is awesome here, it's nice and small so it's not too crazy just everyone happy and partying on the beach. One night we played doubles at pool with some Cambodians. Thought we were going to lose so only played for two beers. Well we smashed it. Down to the last ball and the black, and I was up. Sunk the first ball no worries, then the black, it was a hit and hope moment. It paid off, hit the bottom cushion and rolled back into the top corner. Winner.
Also went out last night for Christmas Eve, I'd never been out on Christmas Eve before so that was good. Danced ourselves into the early years of Christmas Day.
Walking up today has been different. Opened the presents mum had given me and I've carried round for three months. Was lovely having something to open. I've worn my Christmas hat all day in efforts to feel Christmasy, but it's hot. Christmas has to be cold. Not been able to find anything even close to a Christmas dinner, and that has been really hard, I didn't even realise how important a Christmas dinner actually is. It's been a pretty cool experience though. Not one I'm keen to do again though. Christmas should definitely be spent we your family.
Luckily though I'm with some pretty nice people and I'm have a chilled evening watching films.
Merry Christmas again everyone and I hope your all having a wonderful festive time xxxxx
