Ok so here I am in byron bay which was promised to be hippy chic central complete with a ban on macdonalds trading in the area and much and many slightly...odourous locals with homemade clothes.

I have to say...i'm kind of disappointed. It's just not all that. I know this is completely not allowed to be said as for the last few days I've relaxed by the pool, walked along the beach and bought a trashy magasine to read on the seafront in a cafe so life could definitely be a lot worse but the whole 'hippy' craziness of the place feels a bit contrived and a bit dodgy...glad I'm not staying much longer and am off to coffs tomorrow morning before changing my plans to go straight to sydney instead of visitting port stephens and port macquarie which I've been reliably informed are perfectly pretty but missable and since I'm DYING to get back to sydney...they're out and a 9 1/2 hour coach trip overnight is in!! It must be love!
