So there's only 3 days left before I start my long journey over the Yorkshire Dales and into the Lake District. I'm feeling pretty well prepared... Accommodation all booked and paid for, clothes purchased and waterproof spray applied (I'm taking no chances.)
All that remains is to think of the extra food I'm going to stuff in my bag. I'll need to be eating about 3500 calories per day - an absolute dream. Except in my dream the meals are more like gourmet steak than steak crisps, and more like warmed brambly apple pie and custard than rhubarb and custard sweets. Never the less I shall enjoy this rare opportunity to indulge my gastro senses and pig out on what ever my heart desires.
Some people had questions:-
Will I get bored? No, there's too much too look at aside from concentrating on my footing to avoid bogs, boulders and cowpat.
Will I get lost? Despite the clear signage, 1:40000 map, compass, written instruction, and iPhone. Yes. I still lose my way in ASDA.
Am I scared? No. I'm confident that my training has paid dividends. I have good strength in body and mind. (The pint in the Royal Oak and a pie is keeping me going)
Am I nuts?! Haha! I love this - Probably. No one thinks I'm normal for doing this. It would have been great to have company but it's a personal challenge to still do it alone.
Anyway… I shall update you again shortly.
Turrah! <3
