Heathrow airport was awful, i was sooo upset saying goodbye to my mum and brother and absolutely petrified at the thought of travelling alone. i couldnt bring myself to open the card they had given me or Kelly's as i knew it would make me cry so i walked around the airport for a bit before finally boarding the plane. Im a nervous flyer and this was the first time i had got on a plane on my own but i was surprisingly ok. Thai Airways are great i actually slept most of the flight which is not like me at all! Arriving in Bangkok was pretty scary, seeing the floods out of the window was so sad entire villages ruined but people were still living there. Thankfully Bangkok wasnt flooded at all and the hotel im staying in is really nice. I arrived at 6am and was the first person to get there i attempted to go for a walk on my own to check the place out but was soooo tired i ended up just sleeping until our meeting time.
Met the group i am going to be travelling with, all girls! we are told 1 boy will be joining us in Chiang Mai . . . . poor boy! The tour Guide seems pretty cool, he is Thai and a bit of a comedian. Our first night was a free night so Ken (tour guide) took us to see some temples and took us all out for dinner to the worst Chinese restaurant . . . yeah first night in Thailand and we go for a Chinese . . . whats that all about? after dinner a few of us went to check out Koh San Road . . . couldnt help but think of The Hangover 2 the whole time i was there, it really is like the film!!
On our first proper day in Bangkok we went to the reclining buddah temple, it was pretty amazing but i think once you have seen one golden buddah you have pretty much seen them all, it was beautiful though. Onwards to Chiang Mai on the overnight train.
I left Bangkok hoping that Chiang Mai would be nicer as i thought it was quite dirty and too busy but we will be coming back here again in a few days so maybe i will change my mind . . . who knows!
