Our thoughts are with Brett's family as the funeral for his pop had been a few hours before we woke up. It was a slow morning due to the drinks the night before. We got to the airport early so we could check our luggage in and have a few drinks for Brett's pop. Unfortunately when we got there, there was no-one there to check our bags in, so we went to grab some lunch at Ciao smorgasbord of food. We then went back to check our bags but still no-one there so had to wait a few hours despite the airlines website advising to check in 3 hours prior to your flight. We found out the reason for the delay when we went to our gate, the plane was delayed by 1.5 hours(that's 4 from 8 now). When we arrived Madrid, it was quite late and most of the info points in the airport were closed so decided to catch a cab to our hotel which cost more than expected. Hotel was in the main strip of Madrid, there were plenty of people still around eating at the restaurants. Our hotel (hotel Vincci 66) was quite impressive and really modern. We headed out for a bite to eat at 10pm which is normal for the spaniards. Had some tapas which we weren't impressed with.
