A time to change (to Sol Andino)
We simply got our arses out of that place as soon as we could and walked up to a different place, Sol Andino. Great cheap hotel, cheaper than the last and we had cable, two beds and the best hot shower in South America in our own clean private bathroom.
Sarah decided to rest and enjoy the facilities as I walked into the city and the amazing streets of markets La Paz is famous for. I looked at a map and found what i wanted, San Pedro Prison (anyone who has read marching powder will understand). I walked straight to San Pedro Prison to see this place for myself, but only the outside. On the long extended walk home i went through the endless markets, getting lost by heading too far north (or uphill). I almost left the markets when I arrived on a group of protestors. Luckily for me they had their signs down and were finishing lunch. It was time to get to a more gringo area, and i returned to near the hotel. Across the whole time i bought my favorite llama jumper, two coin purses for Sarah and I and the first Harry Potter book, in Spanish.
Later we met the French couple from our Salar de Uyuni tour in plaza San Francisco and went for a catch up dinner at, of all places, an Asian restaurant. Buenos noches
