The Great Escape
Red Centre: Alice Springs, Kings' Canyon, Uluru (Ayers Rock), Kata Tjuta (The Olgas)
Temperature: 47 °C, Humidity: just like licking sawdust
Wildlife: Red Back spiders, Lizards, Dingos, Wild Horses, Ants
Highlights: Crocodile soup & Roo steak, walking through Mars like territory, reasonably large rocks (Ayers), camping under the stars, no mosquitoes, dusty dawns and fiery sunsets, transsexual tour guide, learning Australian folk songs ("G'day, g'day, how's it goin'?")
Disappointments: no air-conditioning on only our bus, Ayers Rock climb closed due to high winds and temperatures
Other: distances in the outback are not measured by kilometres, but hours
Thoughts: swimming pools would not have gone amiss here
