Today was another fabulous day at Niagara Falls. We started off early with breakfast at the hotel restaurant. They had an omelette bar, so naturally I had a freshly made one, rather than eggs that had just been sitting there.
We then checked out and headed for the maid of the mist boat that takes you right up to the foot of the falls. The first boat left close to 10am and we were on it, front and centre to see both the American Falls (the straight smaller falls) and the horseshoe falls (the bigger ones that we all see on tv and movies as the Niagara Falls).
The falls are just amazing! The power that they evoke is something that needs to be seen to be believed. As you get up close to the big falls the wind picks up - this is the force of the water falling over the falls and crunching onto the lower level rocks and water. It creates a swirl of water that is almost like being in a huge rain storm. Thank goodness for the beautiful blue rain coats as we would have been wet through to the skin. The boat sits right at the foot of the falls for about 5 minutes allowing you time to take pictures and just enjoy being there.
After the boat ride we went and brought souvenirs and dried out a little, before heading back to table rock to see the 4-D movie Niagara's Fury, which was a combination of an Ice Age type movie with a standing experience that incorporated snow, rain and wind as well as plate movement to experience the formation of the falls.
When we finished this, there was time for one last look at the falls before heading back to the car. We stopped in at the factory outlets at Niagara (which were a little disappointing - no bargains to be found), then headed off back to Kitchener.
Another great day with lots of good memories tucked away.
