Oh my god!! What a fabulous view we have (cover picture is the view from our hotel room). Niagara Falls is so awesome.
We left kitchener at about 12 midday to make the drive down to Niagara. Sometimes a little hairy, we arrived safely to the Hilton Hotel south tower. On checking in and opening the window we were greeted by this fantastic view. I cried (I think mick did too, but he won't admit it). From here the falls look amazing, but up close they are even better.
We started off by finding some Canadian money (from an ATM, not off the ground) and had a bit to eat, then started our adventure. We caught a little hillside carry shuttle down to the foot of the falls. At the welcome centre we bought a Niagara tours pack which include a tour behind the falls. We did this first and it was extremely cool. It's a bit amazing what technology and a little human will power can do. Mick and I walked behind Niagara Falls, looking from the inside to the outside world. The best part was getting to the viewing deck at the side of the falls. Here we could see straight in to the falls and appreciate their power.
After our back scenes tour, we visited the gift shop for a spot of souvenir shopping and then just continued walking along the the lake front (I think it's called lake Ontario). We looked at lots, saw a squirrel climb onto a man to get food and then walked through Clifton Hill (I think), which is where all the fun and partying happens in Niagara. There's a huge ferris wheel as well as other attractions similar to what you see in any tourist hang out.
After our walk we returned to get ready for dinner at Brasa, a Brazilian meat carving restaurant. The food was delicious! You could help yourself to salad and the waiters came to your table and cut big hunks of meat off for you. We then went and had a complimentary drink in the hotel bar, had a cocktail, went to the casino across the road and then went back to the cocktail bar and had a few more drinks.
It's been a fab day!
