Hi everyone!
We arrived in Cambodia yesterday, left Bangkok just on time before the coup. We had a 6 hour bus journey to the border in luxury! That soon changed when we got to Cambodian border, they were young children with babies on their hips begging. The roads were in a lot worse condition than those in Thailand. Apparently the Cambodian government won't improve the roads as they prefer people to fly. We got a pick up truck (open top), for 6 hours in monsoon rain. It was quite an experience, I think there were about four of us who were actually laughing! The potholes were huge throwing you out of seats. Then cars over taking would kindly spray you with mud. We were so relieved to arrive in Siem Reap, a lot more built up than we had expected. We are staying in luxury in 5 star guest house. This morning we have a free morning so I'm just catching up. Later today we will visit a floating market, and a boat trip!
We went to the floating market in Bangkok too, there we so many things I wanted to buy but my bag is too small. We also visited River Kwai and took some pictures on the bridge, and visited the Railway memorial museum which wa really interesting. The night before we had been on an overnight train. I have heard horrible stories about rats falling on people out of the air con...but luckily didn't see any. There was a bar in the last carriage, where we all went for few beers, and few Thai guys had some beers with us too. Was great we had music and flashing fairy lights. We had to get off the train at 5. So everyone was a bit out of it at floating market and museum. Am going to try put some pictures up now. Speak soon! xxx
