G'day!!
We arrived in Sydney, I was on different flight to the girls! I had to go through quarintine with all my elephant dung products, which delayed me slightly. They had to fumigate my hiking boots, and allowed me to post my stuff home. Unfortunatly Jayne had hers taken away from her. Whitneys family friend collected us from airport. He lives overlooking Bondi beach in luxurious apartment with a hot tub on balconey looking out onto beach. He had beds made for us with chocolates on our pillow. We had the run of the house for 4 days while he went to work. It was so great to do laundry and relax. We didn't leave the apartment very much, we caught up on sleep and made sure all bed bugs we experienced were no longer in our bags. We took Arron out for meal to thank him and made our way to Sydeny the next morning to join the Oz Experience hop on hop off party bus!
Our first stop was Barrington, a small little place in the middle of no where. There was a chance to night kayak, and ab-sail (due to my recent fear of heights probably not good idea)! We swam in the river there, it was freezing! We had all you can eat pizza all night, and our first introduction to goon! Goon (apparently not made from grapes, is amde from fish and eggs ,although tastes like wine)! They had hot tub there which was so great, as it got really cold here and you could look up at the stars! In the morning some people got up to see kangaroos and wallabies!
The next day we went to Surf Camp on Coffs Harbour where we had our first surf lesson and chat about what lives in the water. Sharks, blue bottles, jellyfish and sting rays! Luckily we didn't come accross any, well I didn't, that might be due to the fact, I mangaged to surf accross the sand on my knees after catching a wave and having my surf board smack me in the face several times! It was all great fun, but so tiring. Later we had dinner cooked for us and had some glasses of goon. We had to take the party down to the beach and saw the phos flouresents in the water it was a really clear night. It was so beautiful.
The next morning a few of us went for another attempt at surfing. Ali our instructor made us jog around beach and do few exercises. There was a hump back whale jumping not far from us, which was such a spectacular sight! I did attempt to surf but still couldn't stand so enjoyed lying on board watching whale. We had some breakfast afterwards and carried on to Byron Bay!
