Hi from Daly River Mango Farm!
We have had a beautiful, relaxing time here and have finally been able to see crocs in the wild! It's all good, cruising along in the tinnie looking at all the freshies on the banks, but we did see an absolute monster saltie! He was about 5 metres long, which made him about a metre longer than our boat, scary stuff! I was quite ok with him sunning himself on the bank, but when he got in the water I was a bit anxious to get the boat back to the pontoon before the saltie got there! Apparently this monster likes to hang around the pontoon, and gave one of our fellow campers a bit of a scare when he surfaced right next to his boat yesterday morning. The fella still went out fishing, it would have put me off for sure!
We have made friends with a lovely couple in the camp, who have shared their excess fish with us, as well as giving Smiley a few handy fishing tips. The two menfolk went out for a bit of a fish today. The results were fantastic! The boys reeled in a whopping 10kg Barramundi, enough to feed us all for the next few days. It's delicious pan fried with lime and cracked pepper salt dust....yummy!
So tomorrow we head off to Litchfield National Park, everyone raves about it so we can't wait to get there. :)
