Scott's Birthday!
Got an early morning call from Pa John wishing a happy birthday. THe the girls all came into our bedroom and gave their cards. Got an aerobatices lesson for my bnirthday! Woo hoo!
HAd a lovely breakfast of pancakes before heading off on our boat cruise. Got to the boats a little before departure time and made ourselves comfy on the boat. Cruised up to the canals first, picked up a few more people then headed up the river to Oyster World. Fed soem HUGE fish old tea cake, Some were just about leaing out of the water they were that big. Had a nice little morning tea looking at what we thought was a lizard on the oyster ppots but after 20mins an 8 yr old told us it was a stick.
Continued the cruis up Limburners Creek, named after the convicts who would go up there to break up the oyster shells and burn thm to make the lime out of the powder. Saw a hut which was lived in a by a woman who lived there for 20yrs with no power and only recently got a generator. Saw a kangaroo and joey on the way up.
Back in town we grabbed the scooters and rode along the river foreshore. We saw a sea plane which was giving scenic flights. After some umming and ahhing we thought we'd give it a go but on minute El didn't want to go, the next minute Gabe didn't want to go. So we just played in the playground and had fish and chips for lunch. A huge carlton united breweries wagon pulled by clydesdales came near us with a very cool little dalmation on top.
After lunch the decision was made to go for a sea plane flight and see some whales. We cruised to the far end of the take off area of the river then shot back down towards the town centre. Once airborne we saw the whale watching boats out at sea and turned to head out towads them. We saw a few whales first up just in front of the boats then saw another pod of 3 whales a little further out to sea. We went further out and saw a very cool pod of 3 and circled them a couple of times. We then cruised south around the light house and followed along lighthouse beach. We then turned and flew around the old ruins Lake Innes House by the little coastal lake 'Lake Innes". Built by Maj Archibal Clunes Innes using convict labour betwen 1831 and 1843.
We then turned and headed back into town. Awesome flight! El got a little sick on the way back but everyone had quite an adventure. After our flight we headed back home. We all had a bit of a sleep then headed to Poco Loc Mexican restaurant for dinner. It was beautiful food and the girls were very well behaved. The stuffed jalepenos were quite hot! While Margie had a fantastic seafood barito. We then went home and had a fantastic birthday pavlova on the balcony and fired off dozens of party poppers which the girls loved.
After the kids went to bed we enjoyed a relaxing bottle fo wine and watched an interesting episode of Who Do You think you are with Llionel Richie.
