It was all just as busy here as we still had very little time in which to see everything. On our arrival in the afternoon we immediately jumped on a moto (a motorcycle taxi). Yep, but Rach and I AND the taxi driver were all crammed on 1 bike. With no helmets. It seems safety issues are not of much concern in Cambodia. It would never be allowed in good old Blighty! We managed to see the Palace and the National museum. We were both very tired, so prob didnt really appreciate it as much as we should have.
Day 2 - was a bit more sombre. We went to the Killing Fields (Choeung Ek) in the morning. After overthroeing the Khmer Republic Regime in between 1975-1979 the Khmer Rouge Regime converted Choeung Ek into the killing fields, where they brutally killed over 3 million people. You are still able to see the remains of some. A very emotional morning.
In the afternoon we visited Tuol Sleng, the genecide museum (former prison). The prison, called s21 was were the Khmer Rouge kept, interrogated and tortured the people, before sending them to the killing fields to die. All in all a very deeply moving day.
