We arrived to a sweltering hot D.C. around 16:30 then had to complete a walk of about a mile and a half but only after we had got the sun cream on as it was the hottest weather we had faced so far.
The walk as you can imagine was tortuous in the heat with heavy backpacks and on the way a guy started talking to us as we crossed the road just asking where we were from etc then he told us he knew exactly where it was having been to Braintree!small world!
We arrived at the hostel and cooled down for a bit chatting to another guy in the room who was from Missouri and was road tripping himself. The hostel itself was brilliant, one of the best I have stayed in although the only downside was the wifi was very slow when there was people there it just couldn't handle the high volume of users.
We was hungry by now so headed up to the supermarket up the road and got some spaghetti, pasta sauce, bacon and cheese and used the hostel kitchen to cook up some dinner.
That night we headed out with the cameras to see the White House and surrounding area. It was only a few blocks from the hostel so we figured it would be a quick trip but as it happened we ended up getting in around midnight before turning in for bed. It was a good time to do it though as it was nice and quiet around where we was so easy to get better pictures.
