We had a few hours to kill in Kuala Lumpur. Our 5 hour bus journey had ended at a random station outside the city. We managed to get a commuter train to the Petronas towers. They are massive! However I couldn't go up them as the tour didn't start until e time our train was due. Very annoying.
After a few more hours in KL we got on our sleeper train for the 14 hour journey to Hat Yai which is the place we would get out bus from. The train was cramped but we both agreed that laying down in any bed for 14 hours is not the worst thing. In the morning we had to go through customs into Thailand. And the last bit of the train was through the Thai countryside. We both did the stereotypical thing of standing at the open door looking into the distance.
The bus from Hat Yai was a small minibus with no boot. So the driver loaded all the people in then fitted the luggage around us. It's was bloody uncomfortable. It was a 4 hour trip but the driver must have been in a hurry because, when I could bring myself to look out of the windscreen, he was almost always overtaking something on the wrong side of the road. I spent a while trying to figure out the rules of the road here but there doesn't seem to be any!
We got to Krabi at about 5.30pm and booked into the Pack Up hostel. It's very nice and lively. I would recommend it. Tomorrow we get a ferry to koh phi phi. For 2 nights there then back here to get the bus to the Koh Pangnan.
