We arrive in Brisbane around 8 in the morning. We walked into the tunnel that connects onto the plane and it was cold. I thought it must be the air conidtioning but it was infact how cold Brisbane gets at that time in the morning. It was quite a shock as Thailand was so hot and humid.
We got checked into the hostel and past out for most of the day. The hostel didn't really have a communal area. The room was pretty small and smelled really bad most of the time (because of a guys feet). Most of the guys in our room worked most of the time and everybody in the hostel didn't seem to be socialble. We had a stroll round the city and it seemed nice enough. Everything was clean and it seemed like a nice place but I was shocked with how quite the place was.
Over the next few days wer coudln't find much to do in Brisbane. We went out a couple of nights. One night a guy tyed to bottle me. I have no idea why. Luckly we met an ex-karate champion of Australia. The guy was was pretty apolgetic. I didn't fancy staying in a club with a guy like that so I went to find the bouncers. I went outside and I could only find some police men. They followed me in and chucked him out. I really makes me laugh when I think back. It's like when I was a primary school and you go and "tell of you". The police did tell me "We have been after this scumbag for a while." The only other thing we did was go to the XXXX brewery. It was pretty funny was they didn't really have any facts, nearly everything they said was "MAYBE this is where the word beer came from", "PERHAPS this was how the first beer was brewed".
Overall I was a bit disallutioned with Brisbane. I got home sick and thought that if the rest of Australia was like this I wouldn't want to stay here for that long. I think it was a combination of a bad hostel, a boring city and most people in the hostel working alot (in the hostel), that made me homesick. I decided to give Australia at least a couple of months to impress me.
