We arrived in Auckland to Nikki. Nikki left for New Zealand a couple of months after us and is living with her aunti and uncle who have kindly allowed Vicky and I to stay for a few nights. It was really weird to be seeing someone from home on the otherside of the world. She drove us to the house which is about 45 mins outside of Auckland, in a place called Northshore. As we were driving it was obvious how different New Zealand is to Australia. Its very hilly and very green. We got settled into the house and met the family and had a nice meal. In the evening we just chilled out and had a catch up. It was really nice to know that we didnt have to pack up our stuff early in the morning to move into somewhere else. We gave ourselves a few nights with Nikki and then we were going to start the Kiwi bus.
On our first day we didnt roll out of bed until about 1:30 and Nikki took us to Takapuna for some lunch and a look around the small town. She took us to Pita Pitt which is a bit like subway but was so much nicer. We wandered around the town and bought some face masks for an evening of girly stuff!! Again the evening was spent doing nothing and watching some tele!
The next day we wandered down to a beach near the house and took a little picnic with us. It was a really nice day and the sun was so so hot! In the evening we did nails and put on the face masks and we looked pretty scary and got some funny photos to look back on.
Nikki was working on the wednesday evening so she dropped us off at the shopping centre and then we walked down to her work for dinner. On the way though we seemed to get a bit lost but got there in the end! We had some dinner and chilled out with one of her freinds Hannah and then Hannah gave us a lift back to Nikki's and we waited up for Nikki to come back. We watched some Lee Evans on the computer, had a bit of a giggle then went to bed as we needed to be at the bus stop at 8:15am the next day to start the Kiwi bus. It was really sad to say goodbye but we were starting a new leg of our journey and knew that we would see Nikki again soon... well in 2011 when she plans to come home!!
Next stop Pahia (Bay of Islands)...
