After a long 9 hour journey to Sydney we checked into our hostel Maze and chilled out for the evening. Again its a busy city with blocks and plenty of people wanting to go the same way at once! We have both decided we prefer the little towns.
Anyway cant complain as we were in Sydney. We had planned to spend 4 full days to sight see and have 1 good night out. The first eve we went to the Gaff to meet with the Oz driver and a few people from the bus and we got a free dinner and plenty of free drinks so we both got a little tipsy and ended up going inside and clubbing for a bit. We got back to the hostel about 2am. The next day we just chilled out and wandered around the shops. On one of the days we were going to get the bus to Palm Beach which is where Home and Away is filmed but it was raining and it would take 3 1/2 hours round trip and cost $10 so we decided not to and again chilled out a bit more. When the weather was nice we walked to the Harbour to see the bridge and the opera house and we did an afternoon boat trip over to Manly Beach. It wasnt that special, just a small town with a nice beach with plenty of surfers around! The weirdest thing was when we went into a clothes shop and the girl behind the counter was Lisa who we had met in out first week in Thailand on the island of Koh Tao. It was so strange and it really is a small world!
Seeing the Opera House and the Bridge was really amazing. Its one of those must see sights and we are both very lucky to have seen them. The Opera House however wasnt as clean as we thought. It was kind of off white and we were expecting a gleaming white amazing building. It was still amazing..just different up close!
The night that we had planned to go out was a wednesday and being Sydney we thought that plenty of backpackers would be going out to sample the night life! Apparently not...the place was dead and all the clubs were empty. It wasnt a successful night and we ended up eating cheesy chips at 1am!
Sydney all in all was an amazing city to visit as it does have an exciting vibe about it! Another destination to tick off the list of 'I've done that'!
We left on Sunday 30th November and the flight to NZ was at 11:40. We were an hour delayed taking off but because of the wind we managed to make up the time and get to Auckland on time.
I am personally really sad to be leaving Oz as I have fallen in love with the country and think that its an amazing place to be. Its so chilled, Australia have got life so right. England on the other hand...haven't!
