Surf Camp was amazing. It was so much fun and definatly something I think we will both do again. We arrived at around 1:00pm and got checked into a room and chilled out for a while as our surf lesson wasnt until 2:30pm. We had an inroductory talk with a surfer 'dude' who told us all about what we would be doing and what the rules are. We all got our boards and headed off to the beach. We had to start on the sand obviously as none of us had a clue what we were doing. We had to lie on the boards and practice jumping up into a standing position in one hit rather than kneeling and then having your feet flat on the board. It wasnt that easy actually and I struggled to heave myself up in one go... We hit the water and it was so much fun. I caught a wave and the adrenaline was amazing. The first time I was on a wave though my body seemed to seize up and I couldnt move. I just laid on the board and rode in on my tummy!! Vicky did really well aswell and we managed to stand up quite abit and got some really good pics! It was alot of fun and wasnt that hard once you got the hang of it. Balance is the only thing you need to be good at. Getting up on the board is fine but if you havent got balance you get a face full of water when you fall off. Plus the board it tied on the your ankle so it was a funny experience being dragged along by the ankle by a surf board once you fel off! There was a funny moment where Vicky was surfing in on a wave and ran over my board and we have the best photo of that ever. Proper action shot, was really funny. Apparently the surf guy said it was Vicky's right of way but i disagree as I had just fallen off and got up out of the water, how was I supossed to know that she was travelling towards me at great speed....!!
After the surf we were all pretty shattered so we had a chilled evening. We had a BBQ dinner provided for us and we all looked at the photos on the big screen which was a laugh. In the evening we chilled by the camp fire and there was a guy there playing guitar and he was amazing and sang us his own song and it was really good.
We had to leave by 7:30 in the morning as the journey to Sydney takes about 9-10 hours. Not looking forward to that....
