The journey down to Melbourne was horribly uncomfortable, and when we arrived at about 8am we had about an hours walk to our hostel-i miss the car already! The hostel was quite nice-the rooms were very nice ad we had a flat screen tv, but the kitchen was disgusting-there were flies everywhere and birds flying in to eat off of everyone's tables. After we'd cooked one meal there we decided that 3 nights there was enough.
We've moved to another hostel which is more like a B&B, and a lot nicer than the last one. Everything here seems so expensive for not a lot. We haven't really done all that much in Melbourne so far-we slept for about 6 hourson the day we arrived so that was a write-off, and we've sat in the botanical gardens (had to run home when it started raining) and on the beach (Sam got asked for a photo by two Japenese girls who fancied him), but we are running out of stuff to do that won't cost a fortune. We might do the Neighbours tour-they have either day tours where you meet the cast or night tours where you sit in a pub and drink with them.
The plan was to hire a campervan and drive along the great ocean road then head up to Sydney to stay somewhere for Christmas and New Year, but everuywhere seems fully booked and we can't find any campsites near the city so I have no idea what we're going to do when we leave Melbourne. Sam might be going on a tour of the great ocean road for two days, but even that costs nearly a hundred pounds so I may have to wait here.
All in all australia has been majorly stressful so far.
