The last couple of days have been a bit of a nightmare! On our way to the bus station we bumped into a few girls from our hostel who were just coming in (about 5!) who told us that Lima was a bit boring nd probably not the best place to visit! We arrived at the bus station at 5.45 Monday morning to learn that our journey to Lima was going to last until Wednesday morning, and we´d probably arriveat 6am(they means we would have got there about 9 if we were lucky!)! We got on a clapped out little bus and sat next to the noisiest bunch of teenagers known to man for about 27 hours (including a 2 and a half hour wait because our bus broke down in the middle of no-where), during which time we had to give money to the bus driver so he could ´pay the police´(we couldn´t understand what it was for but it seemed dodgy), cross the borders into Chile (where they made us throw away our apples because we weren´t allowed to take vegetable products in , even though Sam put up a good argument -"But they´re not vegetables..."-and he did have a point) and then crossed the border into Peru when we decided that Lima couldn´t possibly be worth the journey, as we only planned to stay two nights (one of which would have been taken up by travel) and then head to Cusco, which would have taken 20 hours from Lima! Through very bad Spanish we asked to bus driver if we could get off at Nazca instead, and luckily he understood us and let us get off. We arrived in Nazca around midnight in front of a hostel which we stayed at last night and will also stay at tonight. It´s a bit far out of town, but it´s very nice and it even has a swimming pool, which I think we will need as it´s so hot here!
However, since the journey Sam has become quite ill with a bad cold, and can´t find his camera, which we think may have been stolen on the bus.
We came into town this morning and booked our bus tickets to Cusco for tomoorw night at 8pm, and either today or tomorrow we´re going to fly over the Nazca lines.
We´ve had another time change too, at the moment 11.35am, so we´re about 5 hours behind now.
