Yesterday was such a nice warm, sunny day, so naturally it was rainy today as we went on our mini glacier hike! It took us about 40 minutes to walk from the bus drop off to the edge of the glacier, then it was straight on to the ice! Luckily we took lots of warm clothes it was quite cold for most of the journey, and the rain didn't help! I think we were probably on the ice for about an hour and it was very pretty but hard work too! We had clamp on things attached to our boots to help us grip the ice, but for quite a while it felt like we were walking on a slush puppie! While we were walking up our guide was hacking some steps into the side of the glacier with a pick axe so we could walk up as the rain was washing away the ones cut out from the previous group quite quickly. We walked through a few ice cavern things which was really cool-some of the ice looked blue! It's been raining nearly all day here now, so it feels a bit more like home!!
