We spent a few nights at Coff's harbour after leaving Sydney-it's quite a nice little sea-side town but very quiet. We stayed at the YHA which wasn't quite what we expected-it was full of kids, including a new born baby, who stormed the pool on a daily basis (not the baby, obviously) which made it as relaxing as Butlins. We hired bikes on our first full day and cycled to the pet dolphin pool, where you can swim with dolphins and seals, but it was fully booked and about 150 pounds to do it, so we didn't feel like we'd missed out too much! After I'd managed to survive the round abouts we got the chance to see a bit more of the harbour and had some of the best fish and chips ever!!! Quite near the beach they had put up a big cinema screen outdorrs, so we went to watch 'The Dark Knight' outdoors under the stars which was pretty cool.
We headed to Surf Camp from there-the dorms were really nice-just a little cabin with 4 beds and a bathroom. Our room mates weren't all that exciting but they were very quiet. Our surf lesson was interesting-I stood up twice for a few seconds but drank so much sea water in the process! Sam says that he stood up on his first try and then every time afterwards too, but as they split the boys and girls into different groups I can't be too sure! In the evening there was a bit of a party, they had a band playing and everyone had a few drinks and a good time. We had a big meal with vegetables and jacket pototoes which was a big novelty, and a big fry up this morning!
We're in Byron Bay now which seems like the hottest place in the world! It's about 34 degrees and it just feels scorching! There are a lot of people wearing tie-dye and everyone seems a bit hippy-ish-so much so that they won't allow McDonalds to have a restaurant here! And I'm not even joking! So we had beans on toast instead. Today we've bene so lazy because it's such an effort to move, but tonight we're going to Cheeky Monkey's with the people from our bus (apparently it's the place to go here!), and we're hoping to hire some body boards for tomorrow which is a lot easier than trying to surf!
