Our first day in Salta was rather short as we arrived at about half 2 in the afternoon, and after checking in and getting something to eat we didn´t really have to chance to do much sight seeing. We met lots of Argentinian students who were staying in the same hostel as us and they took us out to club called metro which was awesome! It seemed pretty crazy though-we went out at half 1 (everything happens a lot later here!) and it seemed like we were the first few people to get in as it was empty! Some of the music was western, but most of the English songs had a Salsa-y backing to them to make them a bit different. At half 4 we were the first few people to leave (it really is shocking!), and after taking what we now think may have been an illegal tai back to the hostel we found that the main door was locked and no-one answered when we buzzed to get in. We stood outside for a while trying to call in, and just as we were about to go and stay somewhere else for the night, Sam decided to try and use some muscle to open to door (I think he would like me to say that he kicked the door open like James Bond) and managed to get us in. We then saw that the receptionist was asleep for the whole time! Everything is very laid back here!
Today we headed into the town and found a market -the culture here seems to be more native American than Spanish like some of the more colonial towns down South, and we saw lots of Llama jumpers and bought some Llama patterned socks like true tourists! We took a cable car up to the top of the mountain overlooking the city and stayed up there for a little while as the views were rally good. There was a man made waterfall and it was really chilled out.
The hostel seems to be a lot more quiet tonight, a think a lot of pople have left so it will probably be a quiet night for us.
