Good morning vietnam!!!
Im nearing the end of my trip in vietnam. Ive really enjoyed it here, its been so different to how i expected.
I started off in saigon (ho chi minh city). It was crazy busy with traffic. there is something like 5 million people in the city abnd 2 million bikes!!! it was scary trying to cross the raod at first as the traffic doesnt stop and there are no crossings but ive learnt that u just need to walk at one pace in front of the millions of bikes and some how they avoid hitting you lol
The next place i visited was hoi an. That was my favourite place ive been to in veitnam. it was like bveing in venice or comewhere. Because vietnam used to be owned by the french there are a lot of french buildings and french pastries. Hoian was lots of small steets and alleys of shops in old french buildings on a river. There were loads of tailors where u could have anything u wanted hand mode to measure for cheap cheap. I had a winter coat made for 20quid!!!
I also did a really cool bicycle ride around hanoi and the country side where i got to see local farming and water buffolo being used instead of tractors. Hoian also has a really nice beach that we spent an afternoon on.
Hue the next place i went was ok. we went to the citidal there which is the palace that the old kings lived in. iTs kind of like a smaller version of the forbidden city in china.
I then went to Hanoi the capital where i visited the body of ho chi minh in his masoleaum. He is absolutly loved here by all vietemese. It was weird to see a body embarmed tho.
From Hanoi i went to halong bay which is gorgoeus, i would probably say its even nicer than the islands in thailand. Halong bay is a series of 2000 islands trhat we sailed around and spent the night on a boat. it was just the most spectacular scenery ever!!!
We then came back to hanoi where i am now and ive spent a few days shopping and drinking coffee by the lake.
Im heading to sapa tonight on an overnight train. sapa is a series of villages in the mountains which will be great to see. then i head to hong kong next week
