Ive done quite a lot over the last few weeks. Once i left Cairns we went to Magnetic island. It was a tiny place with gorgeous beaches but unfortunatly we didnt get to go on any of them because it rained so much. I did get to go to Koala village while i was there though which was great. i got to hold a baby croc called barbie, have shadow a parrot eat a sunflower seed out of my mouth, i got to hold a snake which was a bit wierd and i got to pet and hold a koala!!!
After Magnetic island we went to Airlie beach, where thankfully the weather was much much better. Airlie is a small marina town, but we couldnt go in the sea beacuse of the deadly jellyfish. They did have a really good lagoon which we got to swim in all the time though. From Airlie we went on a sailing trip around the whitsunday islands, which was amazing! We stayed on a 60 ft sailing baot for 2 nights and 3 days just sailing to different locations and snorkelling and scuba diving. It was my first time scuba diving, and at first i didnt like it. it was weird breathing under water but after a few more times i really enjoyed it, especially diving as deep as 12ft and swimming through pitch black coral caves! We stopped at one island called whitehaven that had the whitest and finest sand i have ever seen. it was gorgeous. what was even better though was the night sky. i slept on deck both nights just staring at the stars, there were more than ive ever seen before. i must have seen at least 15 shooting stars and we could even see mars!!! The only bad thing about the trip was that we had to wear a stinger suit or wetsuit everytime we went in the water because one sting could kill us. it was a bit scarey, expecially as the skipper said she had had 4 people airlifted to hospital from stings in her career! The sailing was great though, we got to see turtles and dolphins swimming next to our boat and we even saw some reef sharks attacking squids right next to our boat at night.
Next im doing a safari on frazer island so ill write again once ive done that
