I am back! after considerable grief for my absence on the blog I thought I'd give it another crack... plus Nikki was slaughtering me from the looks of it.
Righto, the Iguazzu Falls were crazy cool. We enjoyed the Brazilian side better even though there was less to do but you could feel the raw power of the water. put the Huka Falls to shame! Didn't see any toucans but we did see a massive iguana (unfortunately the number one photographer didn´t have the camera so no photo!) and heaps of pesky coaties trying to steal our lunch!
Next onto Rio. The flight was diverted due to fog (I thought we left Wgtn?) and were diverted to Sao Paulo. When we heard that come over the PA we crapped ourselves a bit as that is where the plane crashed a month ago killing everyone! and you can see why as I've never been pushed into the front seat before on landing due to the breaking and the end of the runway was right infront of us!
Copacabana was a tourist trap and noisy as. Hawkers just stroll out the beach yelling out crap trying to sell their wares. Salada de fruta! Go away! Us kiwis took to the sun a little too keenly on the first and got burnt. Rookie mistake. Ipanema beach was a good choice, better than Copacabana but just as many g string bikinis! those brazilians aren't afraid to flaunt it but they do have it! those who requested photos have been blacklisted by Nikki. But seriously I got em.
I proceeded to jump off a cliff attached to a bit off plastic (they call it hang gliding), photos to come. Interesting feeling just running off a cliff but I wasn't that nervous but I am truck scared of bungy jumping. The irish girls had to be pushed off pretty much! Is there anyone left ireland?
Interest has centred around my weight but this has plummeted again due to crap brazilian food and a generous bout of 'delhi belly´ which is still going.
Went to Flamengo v Vasco football with about 70k others which was awesome! they are mad and much worse than the argies. had our first taste of hooliganism, tear gas, riot police and rock throwing. bit off blood spilt. all good fun though.
off to llha grande next as niks said. primo beaches. walked in and they were showing the rugby straight off the bat so I knew things would go well. the jungle walk was insanely hot. you're not supposed to sweat out of your legs like that!
sure I{ve missed out heaps more but gotta roll. thank god we{ve left lima and have hit puno and this is what south america is all about. tiny people (tony hill you would be a giant, you have also been spotted in other parts of SA selling various bits of crap) and a step back in time. more to write later on
