Hi, We have been very busy the last couple of weeks and haven't had a chance to update the blog.
We went to the blue moutains the weekend before Christmas, we stayed in a hostel which was really nice the first day we hired a car and drove up to the caves, the roads were right near the cliff edge so driving was a bit dangerous especially when there's a coach coming the other way. When we got there is started tipping it down, luckly we remembered to take our waterproofs. We went on a tour in one of the caves this one was really small and very dark. Justin had to duck his head most of the time. Then we did a self guided tour which was fun.
That evening we went to watch the sunset but it was really cold so we sat in the car! When we got back to the hostel there was a power cut so we had to use a torch to see where we were going, then we noticed a huntsman spider on the door of the bathroom! Everytime we took the light off of him he ran away, then he chased me in to the toilet and I had to stand on the toilet, luckly the owner of the hostel saved us!
The next day we went for a walk down the mountains to see the waterfalls and rainforest, it was long but did us some good doing some exercise and the views were awesome! When we had got to the bottom we decided to get the skyrail back up, Justin was a bit scared but he was out voted 3 - 1!! When we got of the skyrail we walked down (again!) to the 3 sisters (3 giant rocks in a row) there were 1000 steps to get down to it, then we had to walk back up, it was very hard work! After all that walking we went back to the hostel to have a cuppa then we got our bags to get the long train journey back to Sydney.
Christmas Eve we checked in to our new hostel in Coogee, it wasn't very clean (Backpackers if your reading this DONT GO its called Surfside Backpackers) That night we went on a Harbour Cruise which was really fun we got quite drunk! it was ment to last 3 hours but it was 2 and half we was the only 4 people bothered about it, so we refused to get off, in the end we took all the chicken and left. (see photo's) We didn't make it back to our hostel so we stayed at a friend hostel.
In the morning we made our way back to Coogee, we had xmas dinner and drinks on the beach, everyone was wearing xmas hats, it was so random it felt like a xmas festival in the middle of summer! We stayed there all day.
Boxing Day we went to the horse races but didnt stay very long (i thought it was mean and we didnt have any money on us) We ended up going back to Coogee beach and watch the boat race and had a bit of a swim, that night we went over Becky and Colin's for an xmas dinner they didnt have an oven so it was all cooked in the microwave, but it was still really yummy!!
The next day we went over an other friends house for a few drinks, we all got very drunk and played lots of drinking games (Lisa we have a few new ones which you will like!)
New Years Eve. We had to get up at half 7 to get a good spot to watch the fireworks, very long day!! We took some food and drink with us to keep us going, it was really hot so we had to go for a few swims in the harbour during the day. They had fireworks at 9 for the kids then the main fireworks at 12. We got some really good photo's. After the fireworks we tried to make our way home, but there was no ferries so we had to get 2 buses 2 trains and we still wasn't even close to our hostel! (3 and half hours later!) so we ended up staying at a friends again! The next day we made our way back to the hostel and packed ready to leave (woo hoo!) in the morning.
The next day we moved in to a new (clean) hostel and got ready to go to Palm Beach (where home & away is set!) Me and Colin were really excited, but Justin and Becky wern't really that bothered! That night we went to the ice bar in Sydney it was awesome there was loads of ice sculptures even the glasses were made of ice. We had to wear boots, coats and gloves because it was minus 15, at first it just felt like home, but then it started to get really cold after half an hour we had to leave. We said goodbye to Becky and Colin which was sad but we have arranged to meet up when we get home.
Justin's mum and dad was arriving the next day so we went to Paddy's market to get a present for Brittany (it was her birthday!). We met up with them at there hotel and went to see the sights and have some dinner. The next day we checked out of our hostel and left our bags in the hotel there were staying in and went to Bondi beach for a barbie. It went down well so then we hit the beach for a swim and some body boarding, Justin and his dad tried surfing but niether of them were any good! We left Bondi very tired and had a bath at the hotel Our first bath in weeks and it was great! We said our sad goodbyes and got on the overnight coach to Melbourne! We will only be here for 3 nights and then we will off to our third country on our trip NEW ZEALAND!! We are really looking forward to a change of place.
