Tea and the Castle
Took the train today with Melissa from Richmond station to Windsor Eton Riverside Station to begin the day with a tour of the Windsor Castle! We took a guided tour of the grounds, gardens, portcullis, murder holes, and then headed inside the castle! Unfortunately no photos inside. Queen Mary's insanely detailed doll house 1:12 ratio of the real palace with working electricity, chandeliers, vacuum cleaners, cars, crown jewels and more! Next came the state apartments that satisfied everything I ever pictured in a Royal palace! Carpets, chandeliers, paintings, sculpture, furniture, etc. etc. and more! WOW! I want to be a princess in the Royal Family. After we headed to the Crooked House of Windsor for tea. Yes. English, proper tea. It took a long time because they were short staffed, but the food was great and we left full and happy. Took the train back to Richmond, stopped for a wine tasting and happy to be "home" at Melissa's for the night!
Lessons learned:
British English is not the same as American English
Whilst-while,
Shall-should,
Rubbish-garbage,
Tele-television or TV,
Theatre-theater,
Colour- color
Ex. " Shall we have some tea whilst we wait for the Theatre to open?
Ex.2 " The colour on that tele is absolute rubbish...rubbish!"
