Backpack…. You have been good to me but its time to lay you down to rest…well at least for a while…
You know the stage of your life when you crave that extra bit of stability and ultimate independence…I think I'm there.
Several factors have lead me towards my decision to stay here in Australia.
My priority is my health, in quitting football almost a year ago. I have been meaning to address some health issues and have not managed to get on top of that. The past 8 months has been a fairytale for me, filled with some amazing experiences. Met some life long friends and memories I will savour forever. As far as reality goes…far from it…
Many loose plan's at the moment racing through my head. The conversations shared with my parents have been leaning towards staying here in Canberra and earning some money again. Heading up north will be on the cards…no offence Canberra. I just LOVE the warmth. I want to be based near the coast There's something special about the natural energy of the big bad sea. It's nice sometimes not knowing what's out there.
From my short but sweet experience in Spain…I realised that football is what I want to pursue again. Training in a team environment and sharing the highs and lows of winning and losing matches reminded me of what it was like. The prospect of chasing a ball around again really excites me. If I stay here in Canberra for the next few months I will play football on some sort of level.
The opportunity I had in Spain with Futsal was amazing, free Spanish lessons, free accommodation, basically no living expenses. This was all so appealing which lead me towards jumping into the position available. The girls and coaching staff were great, in making my decision to stay here in Australia I did not want to let them down. Its eating away at me slightly now, mainly because it doesn't sit well with me to agree to something and not go through with it. I'm sure we can all agree…
I have been in contact with them, thanked them for their generosity and wished them all the best for their season.
I certainly have a new found respect for anyone who submerses themselves in a foreign country, perseveres long enough in order to one day speak fluently.
I'm not ready to spend another year away from home.
My family and friends had a fantastic week up at the Gold Coast during the World Triathlon Championships. BEAUTIFUL times. And again experienced what friendships are all about…
Matt wasn't so happy with his race, personally I think 13th in the WORLD for his age group isn't so bad…He knows he has work to do. With the amazing attitude he has no doubt he will improve…The most important thing is he had fun. That came straight from his mouth after finishing the race. I look up to my little brother...? Thats possible right :-)
Well i suppose I'm not technically off exploring anymore...I have been happy to hear that family and friends have been enjoying have a geez at my blog whilst travelling.
I may not be posting any blogs anytime soon, who knows......
Im Happy to be home and happy with the direction im about to take.
XOXO
