Day Four....I am tired! I had my first day at the nursing home and let's just say it was not exactly what I signed up for. Basically it is exactly like working at the nursing home in Bloomington but add in Spanish--and really hard to understand Spanish. I was pretty discouraged this afternoon as were the others I worked with today. We'll see how it goes the rest of the week :/The nursing home consisted of rounding up people for exercise only to come back to find half of them had left because they couldn't remember why they were there to begin with. Those who stayed participated and seemed to like it. We folded laundry for about an hour--I hear the laundry there never ends. We played cards, pretended to understand what they were saying, took them to lunch, cleaned up, and then left for the day. Today I also had to spoon-feed a poor lady who looked like she was on her death-bed—it was really hard to watch her and how painful it was for her to even eat.I think it is mainly frustrating because I feel like this is something I have done many times before and would love to be doing something new related to my future job--especially because this is my internship. O well--I'm sure things will get better the more familiar I become. After work we ate lunch, transferred my money finally, which is very intimidating when you type in a withdrawal of 100,000 colones! It doesn't seem right haha. There conversion is a bit strange. We finally hit up the bakery next door which was as fabulous as I heard it was. I had some kind of cream pastry and of course my afternoon coffee break. We had Spanish lessons for two hours and then after another delicious dinner we had dance lessons!!!!!! It was so much fun, but I have no rhythm! Right now we are all just hanging out in my roommate and my room chatting--getting to know each other. Everyone in my group is great and we all find things in common to talk about.Tomorrow we are going on a field trip to the hot springs! I'll let you know how it is! Thank you all for the posts--it's nice to hear from you back home.Buenas noches
