Planned to take girls canoeing on Hardangerfjord this morning but felix's accident in the shower room meant we packed up quickly and took him to the doctor in Eidefjord. Seen quickly and no charge! Babe ok and mum reassured.
Did some supermarket stocking - j and kids consuming vast amounts of bread and enjoying the Scandinavian meatballs!
Drove to Bergen along the scenic route 7, right along the side of Hardangerfjord for most of the way and included our first ferry crossing. Reminded me of Great Ocean Road in a way. Stunning scenery again. Steep rocky cliffs into the water interspersed with gentle grassy slopes and lovely little settlements. Am loving Norwegian houses - all painted wood and sloping roofs. Brings to mind east coast American architecture, though the former probably influenced the latter. Grey and drizzled steadily much of the day. Apparently Bergen has 275 days of rain a year! Found a lovely campsite, thanks to j's new love mrs tomtom, and decided to upgrade to a wooden hut in view of the weather. Lovely to be warm and dry. Kids very happy. They got sopping in the playground before dinner of meatballs (!), beans and sauce with couscous, and our first dessert of local apelcake and hot custard. Mmmm.
