Pod's third and final blog which happens to be on our actual anniversary( although I feel it has been celebrated a lot over the last 2 weeks).
It has been great experiencing both French and Italian cultures. Both know how to enjoy life. The French is centred around the social brasserie where they gather to chat, drink, eat and smoke. One thing the French do well is smoke but in a classy way.
The Italians love to shop. They also smoke lots but not in the same manner as the frogs. They sit around and socialize in big groups often with children.
Both really know how to cook and prepare food in their own individual ways.Their road and transport systems are amazing compared to ours.I can't recall the number of massive
tunnels, bridges, undergrounds, autoroutes we have travelled on.To think we have built one major bridge and the tunnels under the Yarra in 20 years!
The ageless beauty of both countries and their buildings is astounding.
There have not been too many nasty incidents on our trip. Sally realizes she likes seaweed after falling for my "taste this funny French lettuce" trick. But the biggest has to be the " leaving the passports in the safe at The Piggonet in Aix-en-Provence" trick she played back to me.
The problem was she didn't realise until we went to check into our hotel in Vilefranche some 300kms away. So guess who had to do a return 600km trip in driving rain the next day to pick them up?You guessed it "Antoine the driver"!She did offer to accompany me but I insisted she stay and enjoy the sights of our Mediterranean location.
Not to worry-all part of the experience of driving on the wrong side of the road.
So after a shopping frenzy in Milan today doing what the Italians do best,we are about to head out for dinner to celebrate our 20 years together. If it betters the one we found today for anniversary lunch I will be a very happy man.
Off to Singapore in the morning for a couple of days around the pool getting ready for the return to reality.....

Maggie Siebert Well done, Antoine, like a true gentleman and loving husband. We truly commend your driving skills on the wrong (right) side of the road. This definitely earns a five star rating. Have a safe trip home. You will bring with you some wonderful memories. With our love Maggie and Steve xx
