I've been here for more than 3 months working with brown treecreepers! I am ready for a little east coast action. I'm studying for the GREs, which are a pain. The only thing that keeps me studying is knowing that I'm going to grad school in the spring.
As for today, our bosses drove to Sydney for a U2 concert so we were left with field work instructions. I had the day off yesterday so I made french toast for breakfast then chocolate, chocolate chip cookies for everyone (I know, I'm becoming a little domestic). I talked on the phone for HOURS and i'm actually not quite sure where the rest of my day went. Today we searched for all our juveniles that we radio tracked earlier this season to make sure none of them dispersed. We think one is dead. In other news, the flies are driving me incredibly insane. They are face flies that are an invasive species that loves to land on your head... especially your eye balls, up your nose, mouth and ears. Ants are EVERYWHERE and most the time they do not bite... but watch out for the bull ants. They can leave you sore for weeks!
I saw a dead kangaroo 2 days ago. It wasn't the dead kangaroo that got to me (I see them nearly everyday) it was the way it died.. Warning.. This is a little sickening. It had tried to jump over a double barbed wire fence. It's legs were first caught on the top wire and then twisted around the second wire below. Therefore, it most likely died of starvation. Sick.
I heard the WONDERFUL news about the democrats taking over in the house AND the senate!! Maybe a little change will come and we can dump the demagogue and his cronies in the 2008 elections!! I also heard the unfortunate news of Pawlenty.. [enter boos and hisses] and the last minute negative ad campaigns the republicans ran just before the election. BUT finally the nation is waking up... well some..
That's it for my thoughts right now. Hope you were somewhat entertained!
