Sair and Chris on the move
We're having an amazing time exploring!
Hong Kong was amazing - that place seriously doesn't ever sleep. We went up the Peak twice (once in the day and once at night). We went via tram by night and that was amazing. The journey was only 10 minutes but it was stupidly steep and well worth it for the views. Hong Kong looks fantastic a night as it is full of Neon signs on top of the many skyscrapers.
We also went to Stanley Market which was ok. We weren't that impressed as it was pretty small but I still managed to buy a chinese style purse and brown glass heart pendant on a brown rope necklace! HEHEHE! We were glad we visited the market though as it was a good experience.
Other activities in Hong Kong included going to the night market in Mong Kok which was amazing. We arrived at 10pm and the place was heaving. There were stalls everywhere and people trying to do the hard sell pitch wherever you looked. Chris got some aviator style sunglasses for $69 which is about 6pounds! He looks like David Beckham in them - very sexy! We also visited Kowloon by Star Ferry twice. The ferry only costs 20p and is really nice and gentle. There were big Louis Vitton and Tiffany shops on both islands but don't worry I resisted.
We were sorta sad to leave Hong Kong as we really enjoyed it but wow Sydey is great! After the long 9 hour flight yesterday we were ready to crash in the hostel and I must say it's lovely (for a hostel). The room is super clean and quite spacious. We've got a double bed and a bunk bed on top which now has our luggage on. The ensuite is very useful too as it's a bit more privacy!
We got up at 7am this morning and there was cereal, toast, tea and coffee which we just helped ourselves to. Breakfast is served between 7am and 9.30am so we decided to aim for the middle time! It was really nice actually and the kitchen is well eqipped, big and clean. We then wandered to see the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. We both got goosepimples when we saw it for the first time. Believe me, it's as good as it looks on TV. A nice lady asked if we wanted a picture taken so we've got a nice memory already to show you all. We then wandered back to the hostel (we have walked so many miles already - hehehe!) and popped to a supermarket to stock up. We got some pasta, bacon, mince, tomatoes, mushrooms etc... so we've got 2 nights sorted and we've decided to treat ourselves to Diomino's on Saturday as it's about 2 doors down from the hostel! What a tempatation hey!
Plans for the next few days include, markets at the weekend and going to Bondi beach either tomorrow or tuesday. We've obviously got our bridge climb on Monday, which we're really looking foward to and we're heading onto Newcastle on Wednesday.
We've been to the Greyhound bus depot today and got our passes and a list of bus times so we're now going to do some planning and booking so we're sorted upto Hervey Bay (on the way to Cairns).
Well, as you can tell we're loving it here.
